Client: Cardowan Creameries
Location: Holywell Street, Glasgow
Clansman Interiors undertook the refurbishment of Cardowan Creameries’ first-floor office space to modernise the existing open-plan office, hall and two individual offices. The space, previously dated and in need of attention, was transformed into a vibrant and contemporary workspace with an inviting and comfortable atmosphere.
The project began with a full strip-out, including the removal of floor coverings, wall panelling, glazed screens, doors, partition walls, lighting, data systems and small power installations. The lighting and power systems presented a challenge, as previous adaptations had resulted in a mix of circuits that needed to be identified and traced. To bring the office up to current regulations, new circuits and distribution boards were installed.
Once the strip-out was complete, the transformation of the office space began with a carefully planned installation. QIC glazed screens with elegant cross-glaze banding were fitted to create an open-plan feel that allowed light to flow while still offering a degree of privacy. Our photo gallery above shows the office in its previous design with rather outdated wooden panelling, which has been upgraded to a modern black framed partition design.
To complement the modern design, Polyflor Expona luxury vinyl tiles were laid, providing both durability and style. A suspended ceiling was installed using 600 x 600 Rockfon Tropic mineral fibre tiles, which not only enhanced the visual appeal of the office but also improved acoustic performance.
The addition of sleek Forza timber doors brought a touch of warmth and sophistication to the space. Comprehensive decoration work added the finishing touches, while new lighting systems, upgraded data infrastructure and small power installations ensured the office was equipped with the functionality required for a contemporary work environment.
Key features of the project
Glazed Screens: These were installed to achieve an open-plan aesthetic, allowing natural light to flow throughout the office while maintaining a sense of privacy in key areas for Cardowan Creameries’ staff.
Suspended Ceiling: The Rockfon Tropic mineral fibre ceiling was added to provide a polished finish and enhance acoustic absorption, softening ambient noise within the office.
Low-Level Partition Walls: Positioned below the glazed screens, these walls accommodated dado trunking for small power and data, eliminating the need for floor boxes in the concrete floor and ensuring a streamlined design.
This refurbishment has revitalised the office space, creating a modern and efficient working environment tailored to contemporary needs.
