The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the normality of life across all of society, and care homes have been especially impacted. Care homes look after some of the most vulnerable and frail in our society.
Though care home residents are looked after to the highest standards and have the company of fellow residents, regular visits from friends and family members, sometimes even husbands and wives, are essential for the wellbeing of all residents.
Client Requirements:
Unfortunately, due to coronavirus care homes visits are extremely difficult and risky. To allow some sort of visits so residents can see and speak to their friends and family, Clansman Interiors has been adapting various rooms within care homes to provide a COVID-secure area.
This service involves one of our expert colleagues going out to survey the care home and with the care home management, identify the most suitable area to create a visiting room.
The aim is to identify an area that either has or can have two entrances – one internal to the care home to allow the resident access and one external entrance that allows the visitor access from an outside area meaning they never have to transit through the care home.
Key features of the project
An opening in an external wall is required and a new door, access ramp and pathway are fitted. We then erect a suitably secure glass screen to separate the room into two areas, sometimes this also includes adapting lighting and heating layouts.
A speaker system is then installed between the two areas so residents and visitors can talk freely.
These works are clearly urgent and Clansman Interiors have various teams across the whole of the UK, surveying and installing as quickly and safely as we can so care home visits can commence once again.
Though this cannot beat the full human contact residents used to have with their friends and family, it is a vast improvement for the isolation of not being able to see or talk to their loved ones.
